It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining bright and a slight breeze blew through the trees. He roared with his hands in the air and the kids took off running. This was a game they played often, one is the monster and the others run like mad. I’d call it tag, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen the monster get anyone!
I noticed a ladder on the playground and knew at some point one of them would have to climb up. I positioned myself right at the top and waited patiently. They were so focused on their game they had no idea I was there.
Within a few minutes, this little guy got to the ladder. He never looked up though, he was focused on his feet, making sure they hit every rung. It wasn’t until he was almost at the top when he looked up, before he could look away…CLICK!

We were at the park for a picnic and a day of fun at the parks around town. The boys didn’t know it yet, but we were meeting Grandma and a few of their cousins there. They were so surprised and happy to see them I couldn’t get them out of the car fast enough! As soon as their little feet hit the ground they were off and running. That’s what I see when I look at this picture. I see the kids running and laughing having boat loads of fun. I can even see the smiles plastered on their faces well into that evening. This one simple picture takes me back to that day of fun.
A picture can tell a thousand words. While true, I believe the quote is incomplete. Pictures take you back in time. They not only show the story, but make you truly feel it. Were you happy, in love, or was it a sad day? The feelings and emotions of that moment rush back to you as soon as you see the picture. This time travelling ability is what keeps me working hard to capture as many stories as I can. Our moments won’t last forever, but at least we’ll be able to relive them well into the future!
Are there any pictures that take you back in time and give you all the feels? Tell us your story in the comments, we’d love to hear them!
